국내 기업의 해외 기업 인수합병(M&A)이 활발하게 이뤄지고 있다. 제조업을 중심으로 부동산업, 정보통신업 등 분야도 다양하다. 올해 3분기의 경우 국내기업의 해외직접 투자액은 이를 바탕으로 사상 최대치를 기록했다.

해외직접투자는 대한민국 개인 또는 기업이 외국 법인이 발행한 증권을 취득하거나 그 법인에 대한 금전을 대여하는 경우나 외국에서 지점·사무소 등을 설치·확장·운영하거나 해외사업 활동을 하기 위해 자금을 지급하는 행위를 말한다.

지난 7일 기획재정부가 발표한 '3분기 해외직접투자 동향'에 따르면 올해 3분기(7~9월) 해외직접투자 송금액은 131억1000만 달러로 1년 전인 98억6000만 달러보다 33%가 증가했다.

3분기 기준 해외직접투자액은 역대 최고치를 기록했다. 해외직접투자가 꾸준히 증가하면서 1~3분기 누적 투자액도 360억2000만 달러로 역대 최대치였다. 누적 투자액은 전년 동기(335억6000만 달러)보다 7.3% 늘었다.

업종별로 보면 제조업의 해외투자가 50억3000만 달러로 전년 동기 19억3000만 달러보다 160.6% 가량 늘었다. 제조업의 경우 1~9월 누계로 봐도 124억5000만 달러로 1년 전보다 156.3% 상승했다.

국내 기업의 해외기업 M&A는 제조업 외에도 다양한 분야에서 활발하게 이뤄졌다. 부동산업의 해외투자금액은 15억2000만 달러, 정보통신업 5억5000만 달러로 각각 25.7%, 300.3% 가량 증가했다.

국가별로 보면 미국 해외직접투자액의 가장 많았다. 올해 3분기 미국으로의 직접투자액은 37억4000만 달러로 1년 전인 21억1000만 달러보다 77%가 늘었다 .

오스트리아의 경우 비중은 9.4%로 크지 않지만 3분기 투자액이 12억3000만 달러로 0%대 미미한 수준에 그쳤던 1년 전보다 4만7490.9%나 급증해 가장 높은 성장세를 보였다.

상위 5개국 중 2위인 중국으로의 투자도 두 배 이상 늘었다. 3분기 직접 투자액은 14억8000만 달러로 1년 전 7억1000만 달러보다 107.2% 증가했다. 1~3분기 누계로도 30억7000만 달러로 1년 전보다 70.8% 증가했다.

반면 전 분기 대기업 M&A가 집중됐던 케이만군도의 경우 직접투자액이 9억3000만 달러로 1년 전(14억5000만 달러)보다 35.6% 감소했다. 케이만군도로의 투자는 3분기 기준으로는 상위 4위에 해당하지만, 1~9월 누계로 보면 2위에 오른다. 케이만군도 투자가 대부분을 차지하는 중남미(전체의 8.6%) 지역으로의 투자액도 11억2000만 달러로 1년 전(22억1000만 달러)보다 49.1% 줄었다.

지역별 투자 비중은 아시아의 직접 투자액이 전체 33.7%를 차지해 가장 많았고, 북미(29.1%), 유럽(25.2%), 중남미(8.6%), 중동(1.9%) 등이 뒤를 이었다.

북미로의 투자액은 38억2000만 달러로 1년 전 21억4000만 달러보다 78.7% 크게 늘었다. 북미 투자액은 1~2분기 연속 1년 전 대비 감소하다 3분기에 증가세로 전환했다.

25.2%의 비중을 차지하는 유럽으로의 직접 투자액은 33억 달러로 1년 전(15억3000만 달러)보다 115.3%나 불어났다. 오스트리아로의 투자가 급증한 영향인 것으로 풀이된다. 중동의 경우 전체 비중은 1.9%로 낮지만 올해 3분기 직접투자액이 2억5000만 달러로 1년 전(8000만 달러)보다 228.4%가 늘었다.

한편 올해 1~3분기 해외직접투자액은 360억2000만 달러로 전년 동기 대비 7.3% 가량 증가한 바 있다.

[M&A] Domestic and Foreign Companies Record of overseas direct investment in the third quarter

Mergers and acquisitions of Korean companies are actively taking place. There are also various fields such as real estate, information and communication, with manufacturers at the center.

In the third quarter of this year, the amount of foreign direct investment by Korean companies hit an all-time high.

Foreign direct investment is the case in which a person or a company in Korea acquires securities issued by a foreign corporation or rents money for a corporation, or to install, expand or operate overseas business projects

According to the " Foreign Direct Investment Trend " released by the Strategy and Finance Ministry on Wednesday, the amount of overseas direct investment remittance for the third quarter of this year increased by 1.31 billion dollars from a year earlier.

Based on third quarter of this year, foreign direct investment reached a record high.

As foreign direct investment has steadily increased, accumulated investments in the first and third quarters amounted to $ 36 billion, the highest ever.

The accumulated investment increased 7.3 percent from 33.36 billion dollars in the same period last year.

By industry, overseas investment by manufacturing sector reached $ 5.03 billion, up 160.6 percent from $ 1.93 billion in the same period last year.

The combined total of 1.24 billion dollars from January to September, up 156.3 percent from a year earlier.

M&A between South Korean businesses was actively carried out in various fields besides manufacturing industries.

The overseas investment by the real estate industry was $ 1.52 billion and $ 550 million by the information and communication industry, which increased 25.7 percent and 300.3 percent, respectively.

By country, direct U.S. investment was the largest. Direct investment to the U.S. in the third quarter of this year was $ 3.34 billion, up 77 percent from $ 2.21 billion a year earlier.

In Austria, the share of investment in the third quarter was not that great at 9.4 percent, but its growth was the highest at 45,90.9 percent from a year ago, when investment in the third quarter was only small at 1.23 billion dollars.

Investment in China, the second-largest among the top five countries, has more than doubled.

Direct investment in the third quarter was $ 1.18 billion, up 107.2 percent from $ 710 million a year earlier. The cumulative total of the three months to June was $ 3.07 billion, up 70.8 percent from a year earlier.

In contrast, direct investment in the Keiman Islands, which had been concentrated in the previous quarter, was $ 930 million, down 35.6 percent from a year ago ($ 1.4 billion).

Investment into the Keiman Islands ranked in the top four in the third quarter, but in terms of cumulative investment in January and September, it ranks second.

Investment in Latin America (8.6 percent of total), which accounts for the majority of investment in the Keiman Islands, was $ 1.12 billion, down 49.1 percent from a year earlier.

Direct investment from Asia accounted for 33.7 percent of the total, followed by North America (29.1 percent), Europe (25.2 percent), Latin America (8.6 percent) and Middle East (1.9 percent).

Investment in North America stood at 3.82 billion dollars, up 78.7 percent from 2.14 billion dollars a year earlier.

Amount of investments from North America decreased for second quarter in a row from 1 year ago and then changed to increase in third quarter.

Direct investment into Europe, which accounts for 25.2 percent, stood at 3.3 billion dollars, up 115.3 percent from a year earlier.

This can be seen as a result of the sharp increase in investment in Austria. In the Middle East, direct investment reached $ 250 million in the third quarter, up 228.4 percent from a year earlier ($ 80 million).

On the other hand, direct foreign investment in the first and third quarter of this year reached $ 36 billion, up 7.3 % from the same period of last year.
