지성규 신임 KEB하나은행장은 21일 하나은행 을지로 신축 본점 지하 강당에서 취임 기념 기자간담회를 열고 "안정적이고 선진적인 디지털 전환을 통해 데이터기반 정보회사로의 탈바꿈해 글로벌 뱅크로 도약하겠다."고 취임 일성을 밝혔다.
지 은행장은 2014년부터 2017년까지 3년간 통합 중국법인인 하나은행중국유한공사의 초대 은행장을 역임하면서 전략, 재무, IB, 기업영업, 개인영업, 기획 등 은행 업무 전반을 총괄한 경험을 갖춘 은행장으로 평가받고 있다. 특히 시중 은행장 중 최연소(1963년생) 은행장으로 KEB하나은행의 성공적인 세대교체의 신호탄이 될 것으로 기대받고 있기도 하다.
지 은행장은 무한경쟁 시대에 상호존중과 장벽 없는 협업 문화 구현을 통해 은행 전반에 걸친 구조적 혁신을 이룸으로써 위대한 성장을 위한 발걸음을 시작해야 한다며 네 가지 실천과제를 제시했다. ▲안정적이고 선진적인 디지털 전환을 통해 데이터기반 정보회사로의 탈바꿈 ▲글로벌 현지화 경영과 국내와의 협업 확대를 통한 세계적 수준의 글로벌뱅크 도약▲손님의 기쁨을 최우선으로 하는 손님 중심의 ‘손님행복은행’ 계승 발전▲직원이 만족하는 최고의 일터 ‘직원이 신바람 나는 은행' 등이다.
지 은행장 무엇보다 자신의 은행 생활 30년 중 15년을 글로벌 시장 개척의 선봉의 섰던 경험을 십분 살려 디지털 전략을 기반으로 KEB하나은행을 글로벌뱅크로 도약 시키는 것에 집중할 계획이다. 실제 지 은행장은 현지인을 능가하는 중국어 실력과 함께 영어, 일어, 베트남어 등 다양한 외국어 구사가 가능하며, 오랜 해외근무 경험을 통한 풍부한 글로벌 감각 및 인적 네트워크를 구축하고 있다. 또한 하나은행중국유한공사의 초대 통합 은행장 당시 12개 분행의 한국인 분행장을 모두 중국 현지인으로 교체하는 등 성공적인 현지화를 진두지휘한 바 있다.
지 은행장은 이와 관련해 "전통적 은행업을 하면서 디지털을 가미해 궁극적으로 고객 입장에서 고객 중심의 데이터 기반 정보회사로 거듭나겠다는 비전이 있다. 은행에서 정보회사로 본질을 바꾸겠다는 것이다. 다른 은행들이 추진하는 디지털 트랜스포메이션과 차이가 있다고 생각한다."고 말했다.
이어 "실행 방법에 있어서 예를 들면 4월부터 본격적 시작할 글로벌 로열티 네트워크(GLN)이다. 결제시스템을 글로벌로 확장하는 것이다. ICT기업 SNS기업 등 이종산업과 협업·융합하겠다. 인도네시아에서의 라인과의 합작은 국내 생각지도 못한 것을 한 것이다. ICT기술의 발전 디지털화로 오프라인을 열지 않고도 리테일을 할 수 있게 됐다. 이는 리테일 뱅크로는 할 수 없는 것이다. 이종업종과의 결합융합으로 리테일뱅킹의 새로운 시작을 열려고 한다."고 설명했다.
한편 이날 오후 을지로 KEB하나은행 신축 본점 1층 로비에서 진행된 KEB하나은행장 이·취임식에서는 지성규 신임 KEB하나은행장이 함영주 전임 KEB하나은행장으로부터 은행 깃발을 전달 받고 KEB하나은행의 새로운 시작을 알렸다. 또한, (구)하나은행 시절부터 이어져 온 전통인 은행장 만년필도 전달 받았다.
함영주 전임 은행장은 KEB하나은행의 초대 통합은행장으로서 소임을 다하고 지난해부터 본인이 적극 추천한 지성규 신임 은행장에게 최선을 다해 인수인계를 해주고 바통을 넘겨줬다. 이 날 이임식에서도 진심으로 응원하고 격려함으로써 자연스럽고 아름다운 교체라는 하나금융그룹의 훌륭한 전통을 이어갔다.
지성규 KEB하나은행장은 취임사를 통해 “통합은행이 출범한 지 3년 7개월 동안 진정한 원 뱅크(One Bank)를 이루며 매년 뛰어난 실적을 갱신해 온 함영주 초대 은행장께 존경과 감사를 표한다”며 “조직과 구성원 모두가 살아 움직이는 역동적인 KEB하나은행을 만들기 위해 혁신의 페달을 힘차게 밟아 나가겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
한편, 이 날 취임식에서는 지성규 은행장이 강조한 ‘디지털’과 ‘글로벌’을 표현한 디지털 세리머니가 진행 됐다. 먼저 KEB하나은행의 인공지능 비서인 ‘하이(HAI)’가 출현해 세리머니에 대한 설명을 함으로써 디지털 전환을 향한 의지를 표현했다. 또한, 지문 인식 방식을 활용해 세계 각지에 진출해 있는 KEB하나은행의 모습을 컴퓨터 그래픽으로 형상화함으로써 '디지털의 날개를 달고 글로벌로 나아가자'는 지성규 은행장의 강한 의지를 담았다.

Ji has served as the first bank president of Hana Bank, the merged Chinese subsidiary, for three years from 2014 to 2017, and is considered the head of the bank with experience in overseeing overall banking affairs, including strategy, finance, IB, business operations, personal operations and planning. In particular, it is expected to signal a successful generational shift of KEB Hana Bank as the youngest bank president to be born in 1963.

Above all, he plans to focus on making KEB Hana Bank a global bank based on digital strategy, taking advantage of his 15-year experience in pioneering global markets. In fact, the bank's president, Ji, along with his Chinese-language skills that surpasses that of locals, is able to take various foreign languages such as English, Japanese and Vietnamese, and is building a rich global sense and human network through his long experience working abroad. He also spearheaded the successful localization of all 12 branches of the Korean branch of Hana Bank, China and the Korea Development Bank, replacing them with Chinese locals.
"There is a vision to add digital to traditional banking and eventually become a customer-centered data-based information company from a customer's perspective. It intends to change its nature from bank to information company. I think there is a difference between digital transport being pushed by other banks," he said.
"For example, it is a global royalty network (GLN) that will start in earnest in April when it comes to implementation methods. It is going to expand its payment system globally. It will cooperate with and merge with other industries such as ICT and SNS companies. The joint venture with Line in Indonesia has done something unexpected at home. With the digitalization of ICT technology, users can do retails without having to open offline. This is not something that can be done with retail banks. We're trying to open a new beginning for retail banking with the combined convergence with the heterogeneous industry," he explained.
Meanwhile, at the transfer and appointment ceremony held in the lobby of KEB Hana Bank's new headquarters in Euljiro in the afternoon, the new KEB Hana Bank CEO Ji Sung-kyu announced the new start of KEB Hana Bank after receiving the bank's flag from his predecessor, KEB Hana Bank President Ham Young-joo. He also received a fountain pen from the bank's president, a tradition that has continued since the days of Hana Bank.
Ham Young-joo, the former head of the bank, served as KEB Hana Bank's first merged bank and handed over the baton to Ji Sung-kyu, the new bank's chief executive whom he highly recommended since last year. Meanwhile, at the inauguration ceremony on the same day, a digital ceremony was held that expressed "digital" and "global" emphasized by bank president Ji Sung-kyu. First, "HAI," an artificial intelligence secretary at KEB Hana Bank, emerged to explain the tax money, expressing its commitment to the digital transition.
