금호아시아나그룹이 제출한 자구안이 채권단과 금융당국으로부터 거부당했다. 경영 악화 사태를 개선할 수 있는 실질적 방안이 없어 시장의 신뢰를 회복하기에는 미흡하다는 이유에서다. 자구안을 내면서 "그룹의 모든 것을 걸었다"고 배수진을 쳤던 금호아시아나그룹은 채권단으로부터 사실상 '퇴짜'를 맞으며 당혹스러워 하는 분위기다.
산업은행(회장 이동걸)은 아시아나항공 채권단회의를 소집해 금호그룹측이 제시한 자구계획에 대해 논의한 결과 "금호측의 자구계획에 대해 사재출연 또는 유상증자 등 실질적 방안이 없어 시장의 신뢰를 회복하기에는 미흡하다고 판단된다"고 지난 11일 밝혔다. 또한 "동 자구계획 하에 금호측이 요청한 5,000억원을 채권단이 지원한다 하더라도 시장 조달의 불확실성으로 향후 채권단의 추가 자금부담이 가중될 우려가 있다."고 부정적 입장을 표명했다.
산은에 발표에 앞서 최종구 금융위원장도 금호그룹의 자구계획에 대해 비판적인 입장을 확실히 했다. 최 위원장은 "모든 것을 다 내려놓고 퇴진하겠다고 하더니 또 3년의 기회를 달라는 게 어떤 의미인지 잘 봐야 한다"며 "박 회장이 물러나면 아들이 경영을 한다는데 아들은 뭐가 다른지 이런 것도 감안해서 봐야 한다"고 말했다.
산업은행과 금호아시나아그룹은 긴밀히 협의해 향후 절차를 진행할 계획이라고 밝혔지만, 당장 다음달 6일이 채권단과 그룹의 기존 MOU 마감인 상황에서 뚜렷한 해법을 찾기는 쉽지 않은 상황이다. 특히 이달내 만기 도래하는 아시아나항공의 차입금도 5000억원에 달한다.
시장에서는 결국 아시아나항공 매각 외에는 현재의 상황을 뒤엎을마땅한 방안이 없는 것으로 보고 있다.
금융권 한 관계자는 “금호그룹 대주주의 사재라고 할 만한 게 없고 유상증자를 해도 외부의 돈을 끌어올 수밖에 없는 상황”이라며 “결국 아시아나항공을 매각하는 것 외에는 회생 방안이 없어 보인다”고 말했다.

The Korea Development Bank (chairman Lee Dong-geol) convened a meeting of creditors of Asiana Airlines to discuss the self-rescue plan proposed by Kumho Group and announced on the 11th that it is deemed insufficient to regain market confidence as there are no practical measures such as private participation or capital increase. Also, even if creditors support 500 billion won requested by Kumho under the self-rescue plan, uncertainties in market procurement could add to the additional financial burden on creditors in the future.He expressed his negative stance.
Prior to the announcement to KDB, Financial Services Commission Chairman Choi Jong-ku also confirmed his critical stance on Kumho's self-rescue plan. "We have to see what it means to step down and ask for another three years of opportunity," Choi said. "When Park steps down, we have to take into account what's different about his son."
Although the Korea Development Bank and Kumho Asinah Group said they plan to consult closely to proceed with the process in the future, it is not easy to find a clear solution at a time when creditors and the group's existing MOU deadline is March 6. In particular, Asiana Airlines' borrowing, which is due within this month, also amounts to 500 billion won.
Markets believe that there is no other way to reverse the current situation than the sale of Asiana Airlines in the end.
"There is nothing to be said to be private property of a major shareholder of the Geumho Group, and even if there is a capital increase, there will be no other way to revive the company except to sell Asiana Airlines," a source from the financial sector said.
