Hyundai Motor Company is planning to invest in MDGo, which is a startup that specializes in analyzing trauma of passengers on vehicles in Israel, and is going to work together to develop medical services for connected cars.

Hyundai Motor Co. said Thursday that it has decided to jointly develop a service with Emdigo that will allow the company to provide accurate initial medical services by predicting the injury of passengers in case of a car accident occurs.

The cooperation is aimed at adding innovation in customer value through the creation of an ecosystem that combines vehicles and health care, and to revolutionize customers' safety technologies.

What is as important as prompt on-site response by medical staff in the event of an unexpected vehicle accident is to accurately determine the injury of the injured person and make an initial on-site medical response appropriate.

It is the company that is developing the technology that has come up with this idea.

It is a startup co-founded in 2017 by CEO Itay Bengard, a former medical doctor, CTO Gilad Avrashi, and R&D manager Eli Zerah, an algorithm expert, and is considered one of the top medical information analysis companies using artificial intelligence.

Emdigo's unique AI algorithm analyzes data collected from various sensors in the vehicle in the event of a collision and generates a report that shows the injury location and severity of passengers in real time.

The report is immediately delivered to nearby hospitals and ambulances that will transport patients to help provide optimal emergency treatment at the accident site.

Since last year, it has been working with a loss insurance company in Israel to upgrade its services by carrying out a pilot project for the technology.

It is also looking for new business opportunities to provide customized medical services using driver health diagnostic sensors for future vehicles.

Global companies are also paying attention to the high possibility of future growth of M.D.Go. In addition to Hyundai Motor, Volvo and others participated in the latest round of financing A for the Emdigo.

The fact that Hyundai Motor Company has secured a stake in the company in the relatively early stage is expected to have a positive effect in that it can conduct active cooperation with the company one step ahead of its competitors.

Hyundai Motor has decided to continue cooperation in applying the service to Hyundai Motor's connected car service in the wake of its strategic investment in the company.

Hyundai Motor is also focusing its capabilities on developing leading-edge technologies in the medical service sector using its own high-tech IoT.

Currently, it also provides an automatic notification of the location of the accident vehicle to emergency centers in case of an accident in which airbags are deployed for subscribers of its connected car service, BlueLink.

In addition, Nexo's self-driving car, which successfully demonstrated self-driving on a highway between Seoul and Pyongchang early last year, sent information on passenger's blood pressure and heart rate to a specialist and introduced it with a technology that allows medical staff to receive medical diagnosis in real time.

Hyundai Motor is planning to develop a technology that is optimized for passenger trauma analysis and provide a new opportunity to drastically enhance customer safety through cooperation with the company.

From around April, the two companies started to verify algorithms that predict the level of injuries to passengers based on data from Hyundai Motor's major vehicle collision tests.

Information such as the location of passengers, the speed of the vehicle at the time of the accident, the impact area, and whether or not the safety belt is engaged should be sent to the artificial intelligence analysis server in real time to analyze the severity of the accident.

To this end, Hyundai Motor Company is planning to work with Medigo to quickly deliver various vehicle data at the time of the accident through its connected car system to enable more accurate analysis.

It also expects that if the company utilizes the passenger trauma analysis system, it will greatly improve preemptive safety technologies such as designing vehicles that take safety into account and constructing optimal safety system layout.

In particular, the technology's commercialization is expected to provide an opportunity to innovate the insurance claim process and reduce social costs by minimizing cross-conflict elements.

It is expected that the development of an environment where information on the health of passengers can be obtained in the future will provide customers with an 'end to end' solution regarding healthcare from vehicles to hospitals.

"Endigo is a world-class AI analysis company in vehicle passenger safety and is the best partner to meet the value of 'customer safety'." said Ji Young-jo, president of Hyundai Motor's strategic technology division.

"We are pleased to work with Hyundai Motor, one of the world's leading automotive companies, in the innovation that connects cars and medical services," said Etai Bengard, CEO of the company. "We will share our vision to provide services that save precious lives through technology."
