세종텔레콤이 2018년 8월에 인수한 계열사 조일이씨에스의 흡수합병을 완료하고 신(新) 정보통신기술(New ICT)기업으로서 새로운 도약에 나선다고 11일 밝혔다.

세종텔레콤은 합병을 통해 기존 보유하고 있던 전국망 규모의 통신인프라와 서비스, 인력 및 재무 자원에 조일이씨에스의 33년 업력의 전기통신공사업에 대한 기술력과 노하우를 접목시킨다는 방침이다. 사업경쟁력 확대, 시너지 창출, 기업가치 제고를 바탕으로 양사가 보유한 다양한 산업의 고객군들을 미래 협력 파트너 확대에도 나선다.

4차 산업혁명 시대를 맞아 건축 시장 전체에서 차지하고 있는 전기 설비비의 비율이 점차 상승하고 있으며 그 중요성 역시 더욱 높아지고 있다.
전기자동차,  스마트미터(AMI), 에너지관리시스템(EMS) 등 기술 융합을 통한 새로운 제품과 서비스들이 속속들이 등장함에 따라 전기시설에 대한 투자 역시 지속적으로 증가할 전망이다.

세종텔레콤은 시장의 변화에서 오는 기회를 토대로 성장 모멘텀을 강화할 예정이다.
합병을 기점으로 세종텔레콤의 사업부문은 유선, 무선, 전기공사, ICT솔루션, 블록체인, 커머스 등 크게 여섯가지 부문으로 개편됐다.

김형진 세종텔레콤 회장은 “세상을 하나로 연결하는 통신과 전기, 두 핵심 인프라를 통합하고 책임지게 되어 기쁘면서도, 더 큰 책임감에 어깨가 무겁다”며 “초연결 사회로의 변화 대응과 지속가능한 발전을 위해 끊임없이 변화하고 혁신을 일구면서, 고객, 임직원, 파트너사들과 자발적으로 진화하고 함께 성장해 나갈 계획”이라고 말했다.

한편 세종텔레콤은 지난 1월 멀티사이드체인 구조의 BaaS형 블록체인 메인넷 ‘블루브릭(BlueBrick)을 공개하고, 핀테크 전문기업 비시드파트너스(B-Seed Partners)와 공동설립한 컴퍼니빌더 ‘비브릭(B-Brick)를 출범하는 등 블록체인 서비스 상용화와 사업 포트폴리오 확장에 박차를 가하고 있다. 7월에는 비디오커머스 플랫폼인 ‘왈라뷰(wallaVU)’를 오픈하며, B2C 신규 시장 공략에 나설 계획이다.

[M&A]  Sejong Telecom Co., Ltd. to absorb Zoil Seas... "Grow into a new ICT company."

The company said Wednesday that it will complete the merger of its affiliate, Joyle Seas, which Sejong Telecom acquired in August 2018, and take a new leap forward as a new ICT company.



Through the merger, Sejong Telecom plans to combine its technological prowess and know-how in the 33-year-old telecommunications engineering business of Zoeil Seas with its nationwide network-scale telecommunications infrastructure, services, manpower and financial resources. Based on expanding business competitiveness, creating synergy and enhancing corporate value, the two companies will also expand their future cooperation partners for diverse industries.



In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, the ratio of electricity and equipment costs to the entire building market is gradually rising, and its importance is also increasing.
Investment in electrical facilities is also expected to continue to rise as new products and services through convergence of technologies such as electric vehicles, AMI (smart meters) and EMS (energy management system) are emerging.



Sejong Telecom will bolster its growth momentum based on opportunities coming from changes in the market.
At the start of the merger, Sejong Telecom's business division was reorganized into six sectors, including wireline, wireless, electricity corporation, ICT solutions, blockchain and commerce.



"I'm happy to integrate and take responsibility for the communications, electricity and two key infrastructures that connect the world together, but I'm burdened with greater responsibilities," said Kim Hyung-jin, chairman of Sejong Telecom. "We plan to voluntarily evolve and grow with our customers, executives and partners, while constantly changing and innovating for the sake of responding to changes and sustainable development into a hyper-connected society."



Meanwhile, Sejong Telecom is stepping up efforts to commercialize blockchain services and expand its portfolio by unveiling its main net called "BlueBrick," which is a BaaS-type blockchain structure, in January, and launching Company Builder "B-Brick," which was co-established with a fintech firm called B-Seed Partners. In July, the company plans to open a video commerce platform called "WallaVU" and tap into new B2C markets.
