기업은행이 ‘IBK인도네시아은행’ 출범을 위한 가장 큰 산을 넘었다.
IBK기업은행(은행장 김도진)은 지난 14일 인도네시아 금융감독청(OJK)으로부터 아그리스(Agris)은행과 미트라니아가(Mitraniaga)은행의 합병승인을 취득했다고 18일 밝혔다.
두 은행은 기업은행이 올해 1월 인수한 인도네시아 현지은행으로, 합병승인은 인수승인 이후 8개월만이다.
기업은행 관계자는 “인수승인에 이어 합병승인 역시 빠르게 이뤄졌다”며, “기업은행이 중소기업 전문은행으로서 쌓은 역량을 인정받아 현지에서도 중소기업 성장에 기여할 것이라는 인도네시아 금융당국의 기대가 반영된 것으로 보인다”고 말했다.
기업은행은 오는 9월 ‘IBK인도네시아은행’을 정식 출범시킬 계획이다. 또 한국데스크, 외환 전담부서 등을 신설해, 현지에 진출한 한국기업은 물론 인도네시아 현지 기업에 대한 금융지원도 추진한다.
이를 위해 현지 중소기업에 맞는 상품과 서비스를 제공해 글로벌 동반자금융을 강화하고, 현재 30개의 영업망(아그리스 17개, 미트라니아가 13개)을 2023년까지 55개로 늘릴 계획이다.
이번 승인으로 취임 초부터 글로벌사업 확장을 미래성장동력으로 삼고 ‘IBK아시아금융벨트’ 구축을 추진해 온 김도진 은행장은 기업은행 설립 이후 최초로 해외은행 인수합병(M&A)이라는 결실을 맺게 됐다.
기업은행 관계자는 “인도네시아는 정부 신남방정책의 핵심 파트너이자, 약 2천개 한국기업이 진출해 있는 국가”라며, “이번 승인으로 IBK아시아금융벨트 완성에 한 걸음 더 다가섰다”고 말했다.
이어 “베트남 지점의 법인전환, 미얀마 진출 등도 성공적으로 추진해 IBK아시아금융벨트를 완성하고 중소기업의 해외진출을 적극 지원할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
[M&A] IBK Industrial Bank, Acquiring approval for merger with Indonesia's Acquisition Bank
The Industrial Bank of Korea has crossed the largest mountain to launch the "IBK Indonesia Bank."
IBK Industrial Bank of Korea (BOK President Kim Do-jin) made an announcement on the 18th that it has obtained approval for a merger between Agris Bank and Mitraniaga Bank from OJK, Indonesia, on the 14th.
The two banks are local banks in Indonesia, which was acquired by Industrial Bank of Korea in January this year, and the approval of the merger is eight months after the approval of the takeover.
"Approval for the merger followed the approval of the acquisition quickly." said a representative for the Industrial Bank of Korea. "It seems to reflect the Indonesian financial authorities' expectations that the bank will contribute to the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in the region in recognition of its capacity as a bank specializing in small and medium-sized enterprises."
Industrial Bank of Korea plans to officially launch the "IBK Indonesia Bank" in September. It will also establish a department dedicated to Korea Desk and foreign exchange to provide financial support to Korean companies operating in the country as well as local companies in Indonesia.
To that end, the government plans to strengthen its global partnership by providing products and services suitable for small and medium-sized companies in the region, and increase the current 30 business networks (17 for Agris and 13 for Mitrania) to 55 by 2023.
The approval will mark the first overseas bank takeover since the establishment of the Industrial Bank of Korea, Kim Do-jin, who has been pushing to establish the "IBK Asia Financial Belt" by using global business expansion as a future growth engine since early his inauguration.
Indonesia is a key partner in the government's New Southern Policy and is a country with about 2,000 South Korean companies operating there, an official at the Industrial Bank of Korea said, adding that the approval is a step closer to completing the IBK Asia Financial Belt.
"We will also successfully push for corporate transformation of Vietnamese branches and entry into Myanmar to complete the IBK Asia Financial Belt and actively support small and medium-sized enterprises' advance into foreign markets."
