계절에 관계 없이 미세먼지 주의보가 일상이 되면서 공기청정기 시장이 급성장하고 있는 가운데, 단순한 공기정화 기능을 뛰어넘어 산소를 배출시키는 공기청정기를 선보이고 있는 기업이 있어 주목된다. 국내 필터 분야 유력한 기업 연구소 출신인 공학박사 손영환 대표가 이끌고 있는 네오에스티지(주)다.

# 미항공우주국(NASA) 기술 적용한 산소배출 공기청정기
네오에스티지는 미항공우주국(NASA)이 밀폐된 공간에서 생활하는 우주비행사에게 적용하고 있는 'NEOCURE' 기술이 적용된 공기청정기 '네오큐어(NEOCURE)'를 주력제품으로 선보이고 있다.

이 제품은 ▲워셔블 프리필터 ▲먼지필터 ▲프리탈취필터 ▲네오필터 ▲트루탈취필터 ▲하이엔드헤파필터 등 총 6단계의 필터를 적용했다. 이 때문에 입자가 큰 먼지, 동물의 털 제거는 물론 냄새, 새집증후군 유발 물질, 산성가스, 0.3마이크로미터 크기 이하 초미세먼지와 박테리아 곰팡이까지 제거가 가능한다.

특히 각종 공기 중 유해물질을 제거하는 일반적인 공기청정기의 기능을 넘어 청정한 산소를 발생시켜 실내 공기를 마치 나무가 있는 숲속같이 만들어준다는 것이 손 대표의 설명이다.

손 대표는 "네오큐어란 나무들이 이산화탄소 및 유해가스를 흡수하고 산소를 발생시켜 인류 및 동물들의 생존을 보장하고 있는 것처럼, 산업체 및 자동차에서 배출되는 유해가스를 분해하며 산소를 발생시키는 기술로 어느 공간이든지 청정숲을 만들어주는 공기청정기이자 일종의 화학나무라고 보면 된다."라고 말했다.

# 산소 발생시는 특허 기술, 검증된 성능
네오에스티지 핵심 경쟁력은 기술력이다. 네오에스티지의 특허 1728098호 기술은 알칼리 또는 알칼리토금속의 과산화물이나 초과산화물을 알칼리토금속의 수산화물 및 촉매 등을 이용한 공기정화기술로 실내오염물질이 필터내 물질과 만나 네오큐어 반응을 통해 산소가 발생된다.

공기청정기 네오큐어의 탁월한 성능은 주요 시험연구원의 실험 결과에서도 나타난다. 이산화탄소의 경우 네오큐어 60분 가동시 제거율 50%, 산소농도의 경우 4시간 가동시 4% 증가했다. 또한 암모니아, 아세트산, 이산화질소 제거율은 1시간 가동시 각각 92%, 99.5%, 85%의 달한다. 미생물 또한 대장균은 40분 내 99.9%, 황색 포도상구균은 98.3% 제거됐다.

# 유통 확대, 국가에 보답할 기술 창출 할 것
네오큐어는 지난해 서울어워드 우수상품으로 선정 받으며 제품력을 크게 인정 받았으며, 조달청 벤처나라와 S2B학교 장터에 등록되는 등 대외적으로도 제품 공신력을 얻고 있다.

특히 작은 크기의 미니 제품 출시와 더불어 국내 백화점 및 해외 시장 개척에도 적극나설 계획이다.

손 대표는 "궁극적인 목적은 탁월한 품질의 제대로된 제품을 만들어 누구나 맑고 깨끗한 환경을 누리게 하고 싶다."라며 "네오에스티지 본사가 한국과학기술원에 들어와 있는 만큼, 국가에 보답할 기술을 창출하고 싶다."고 포부를 밝혔다.

[Hidden Champion]  Oxygen generating air purifier 'NEOCURE'

In particular, Sohn explained that indoor air is like a forest with trees by generating clean oxygen beyond the function of a normal air purifier that removes harmful substances from the air.

"Just as neocure absorb carbon dioxide and harmful gases and produce oxygen to ensure the survival of humans and animals, it is an air purifier and a kind of chemical tree that creates a clean forest in any space with the technology to break down harmful gases emitted from industries and cars and generate oxygen," Sohn said.

# Patent technology for oxygen generation, proven performance
Its main competitive edge in NeoSTG is its technological prowess, which has developed a product that produces oxygen, unlike the general air purifiers that are available in current markets. NeoSTG's patent No. 1728098 technology is an air purification technology that uses alkali or alkalite metals' hydroxide or excess oxides, such as hydroxides and catalysts, and indoor pollutants meet with substances in filters and produce oxygen through neocure reactions.

The excellent performance of air purifier neocure is also shown in the experimental results of the main test institute. In case of carbon dioxide, removal rate increased by 50% during operation for 60 minutes and 4% during operation for oxygen concentration by 4 hours. In addition, the removal rate of ammonia, acetic acid, and nitrogen dioxide is 92%, 99.5% and 85% respectively at one-hour operation. E. coli was also eliminated by 99.9 percent within 40 minutes and yellow staph by 98.3 percent.

# Expand distribution and create technology to repay the nation
Neocure was selected as the best product at the Seoul Awards last year and has been highly recognized for its product power, and has been registered at the Venture Country of the Public Procurement Service and the S2B School market.

In addition to releasing small-sized mini-products, the company is also planning to actively explore Korean department stores and overseas markets.
