유망 스타트업의 신사업 인수합병(M&A)이 수월해질 전망이다. 정부가 직접 나서 유망스타트업의 기업경쟁력 확대를 지원한다. 중견기업과 스타트업 간 교류의 장을 만드는 형태다. 중견기업은 신사업 펀드도 조성한다.


21일 인수합병(M&A)업계에 따르면 산업통상자원부와 한국중견기업연합회는 지난 20일 서울 강남구 코엑스에서 '중견기업-스타트업 네트워킹 데이'를 개최하고 중견기업과 스타트업을 연결하는 다양한 행사를 진행했다.

네트워킹 데이는 국내 산업의 허리인 중견기업과 혁신 역량을 갖춘 스타트업의 만남에 초점을 맞춰 진행했다. 중견기업은 신사업 관련 경쟁력 강화의 장을 만들고, 스타트업은 자금경쟁력 확대를 꾀하는 식이다.


유망 스타트업 사업설명회(IR), 중견기업 신사업·인수합병(M&A) 협의체 양해각서(MOU), 중견기업 신사업 펀드 조성 계획 소개 등이 진행됐다.


스타트업 사업설명회는 신기술·신사업 아이디어를 가진 스타트업과 중견기업을 연결해 주기 위해 은행권청년창업재단(디캠프)이 주관하는 '디데이(D-DAY)'에서 우수한 성적을 거둔 스타트업 12개사가 참여했다.


신사업·M&A 협의체에서는 중견련, 벤처기업협회, 한국M&A협회, 은행권청년창업재단, 민간 벤처캐피탈(VC)이 참여해 양해각서를 교환하고, 협의체는 투자·자금 등 금융서비스를 제공하고 M&A 대상 수요·대상기업 발굴 등 정보를 제공한다. M&A 분야 전문 인력 양성도 지원한다.


중견기업은 신사업펀드를 조성, 신사업 진출에 필요한 기술과 아이디어를 보유한 유망 스타트업에 투자한다는 계획도 밝혔다.


중견기업 신사업 펀드는 8~10개 중견기업이 150억원가량을 출자하고, 정책금융 및 금융권 자금을 매칭해 결성된다. 중경련은 조만간 신사업 펀드의 위탁운영사 모집에 나선다.


신사업 펀드는 중견기업의 신성장동력 마련 차원에서 추진됐다. 아이디어와 기술을 바탕으로 하고 있는 스타트업에 투자, 향후 시너지 효과를 이끌어 내는 인수합병(M&A) 등에 활용한다는 계획이다.


조영신 산업부 중견정책국장은 “미·중 무역 갈등, 일본 수출규제 등 최근 위기 상황에서 혁신성장을 위한 중견기업계 자체 노력에 대해 감사와 격려를 표한다”며 “정부도 중견기업 신사업 진출을 적극 뒷받침하겠다”고 말했다.

It is expected that M&A for new businesses by promising start-ups will be easy. The government will support the expansion of corporate competitiveness in promising start-ups. This form creates a venue for exchanges between medium-sized businesses and start-ups. Midsize businesses will also create funds for new businesses.



According to M&A industries on the 21st, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business held a "middle-to-start networking day" at COEX in southern Seoul on the 20th and held various events linking medium-sized businesses to start-ups.


Networking Day focused on the meeting between mid-sized companies, which are the back of the local industry, and startups with innovative capabilities with innovation capabilities. It seems that medium-sized businesses are trying to strengthen competitive edge regarding new businesses and start-ups are planning to expand competitive edge in funding.



An IR (Interview of promising start-up businesses), MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) for a consultative body on new business and mergers and acquisitions of medium-sized businesses, and introduction of plans to create funds for new businesses for small and medium-sized businesses.



Twelve start-up companies that performed well at 'D-DAY' organized by the Youth Start-up Foundation (D-DAY) participated in this event to connect start-ups with ideas for new technologies and new businesses.



The new business and M&A consultative body will participate in the exchange of memorandums of understanding by participating in the MOU, and the Korea M&A Association, the Korea Youth Startup Foundation for Banking Rights, and VC (Voluntary Venture Capital) will provide financial services such as investments and funds and provide information such as finding demand and target companies for M&A. It will also support training of professionals in the M&A field.



Mid-sized businesses also announced plans to create new business funds and invest in promising start-ups that have the technology and ideas needed to advance into new businesses.



The new business fund for mid-sized companies will be formed by eight to 10 mid-sized companies investing around 15 billion won and matching funds from policy and financial sectors. Jung Kyung-ryeon will soon start recruiting new business funds for commissioning operations.



The new business fund was promoted to prepare new growth engines for mid-sized companies. The company plans to invest in start-ups that are based on ideas and technologies and use them for mergers and acquisitions that will bring about synergy in the future.



"We express our gratitude and encouragement for the mid-sized business community's efforts to achieve innovative growth in the face of recent crises such as the U.S.-China trade conflict and regulations on exports to Japan," said Cho Young-shin, director general of the Mid-size Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Industry and Energy. "The government will also actively support entering new mid-sized businesses."
