한국항공우주산업㈜(이하 KAI)은 25일 보잉과 3,300억 원 규모로 새롭게 개량한 A-10 날개 구조물 공급계약을 체결했다고 26일 밝혔다.
A-10은 미 공군의 근접항공지원(CAS) 임무를 수행하는 항공기로 일명 ‘탱크킬러’로 불린다.
KAI는 기존 사업에 대한 기술력을 인정받아 이번 계약을 체결하게 됐다고 강조했다. 금번 납품 분은 새롭게 개량한 OWP(Outer Wing Panel ․ 외 날개) 1,470억 원 규모와 CWP(Center Wing Panel ․ 중앙 날개) 1,861억 원을 포함한 총 3,300억 원 규모로 계약 기간은 2027년까지 납품 예정이다.
KAI 관계자는 “고객의 신뢰를 바탕으로 세계적 수준의 생산 기술과 품질을 인정받아 이번 공급 물량이 확대됐다”며 “향후신규 물량 수주를 위해 지속적으로 노력하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
한편, KAI는 2007년부터 2018년까지 보잉의 A-10 OWP를 제작하여 총 173대를 납품한 바 있다.
