[Hidden Champion]  Shared Wash Service Wipers "Automobile Aftermarket Stronger Objective"

Various support projects by the Seoul Industrial Promotion Agency (SBA), which was established to promote the city government's policies for promoting industrial development and fostering small and medium-sized enterprises, are drawing keen attention as they serve as incubators for small and medium-sized startups within the government. The Seoul Industrial Promotion Agency's support projects, which offer a variety of services, including startups, distribution, education, content, patents and R&D, with the key aim of creating good jobs, are said to be the foundation for small and medium start-ups to become "strong companies." As a result, SBA (Seoul Industrial Promotion Agency) and digital economic newspaper Business Report will publish success stories of many small and medium start-ups that have succeeded through SBA's support business.

Recently, models for the so-called "shared economy" business, such as the car-sharing platform Uber, Socar, and Airbnb, which share a home, have been growing, even shared kitchens that share a kitchen. In particular, it is drawing keen attention as there are businesses that are commercializing car washing services by bringing them into a shared economy concept while businesses related to vehicle services are expanding. This is the main character of Wiper, which was established in 2015 by CEO Moon Hyun-gu, who has a deep-rooted problem in finding new businesses in South Korea's telecommunication industry.

Wiper, which introduced Korea's first hand wash delivery service, is actively exploring new business areas by introducing a service model that connects empty self-cleaning cars to business car cleaners during the weekday. Currently, it is operating an application that can be used by car wash operators and is conducting a trial service at a car wash station in Gui-dong, Seoul. Starting next year, the company plans to step up efforts to expand its business around Seoul and the metropolitan area.

Wiper is also actively working to expand its store management system based on its application development, IT technology and know-how in car washing. Currently, it has signed partnership deals with some 20 premium car washers and provides store management system services. From the perspective of store owners, it is good to use a store management system that incorporates IT technology, and from the perspective of customers who use the service, they can conveniently use a payment system through a credit card without cash.

In particular, the company plans to link various services provided at car wash shops with various points set aside by large companies such as mart and online and offline distribution channels.

The ultimate business model that Moon is envisioning through the wipers is the car's after-market platform based on the car's washing machine. It plans to accumulate vehicle information from customers who are using the car wash service to form big data and based on this, it will present new business models to car-related businesses such as car centers, car consumables companies and used car makers.

Wiper is a startup that provides comprehensive car management services, Moon said. We started with Korea's first 'hand car delivery service' in 2015 and are currently offering various solutions related to the car wash business," the company said in a statement. "We hope to secure various customer vehicle data through car washing along with further service development, including linking payment services that use large company points in the future.
