[편집자주]서울시의 산업진흥 및 중소기업 육성 정책의 효율적인 추진을 위해 설립된 서울산업진흥원(SBA)의 다양한 지원사업들이 관내 중소 스타트업들의 인큐베이팅 역할을 톡톡히 하며 주목받고 있다. 좋은 일자리 창출을 핵심 목표로 창업, 유통, 교육, 콘텐츠, 특허, R&D 등 다양한 서비스를 제공하고 있는 서울산업진흥원의 지원사업들은 중소 스타트업들이 '강소기업'으로 도약할 수 있는 밑거름이 되고 있다는 평가를 받고 있다. 이에 서울산업진흥원(SBA)과 디지털 경제신문 ‘비즈니스리포트’는 SBA의 지원사업 수혜를 통해서 성공한 많은 중소 스타트업들의 성공스토리를 기획특집기사로 연재한다.
4차산업혁명의 물결이 전 산업을 강타하고 있는 가운데, 빅데이터 딥러닝을 활용하는 AI 기술로 환자중심의 디지털 헬스케어 플랫폼을 전문적으로 개발하고 있는 회사가 있어 주목된다. 화상전문 병원 베스티안에서 20여년간 병원 경영을 해온 신현경 대표가 지난 2013년 설립한 (주)파인인사이트(FineInsight)가 그 주인공이다.
연구개발인력이 전 임직원의 80%가 넘는 비중을 차지하고 있는 파인인사이트는 설립 이후 헬스케어 분야 다양한 시스템과 플랫폼 개발에 박차를 가한 결과 지난 2018년 부터는 국내외 주요 고객사를 확보하고 연 매출 20억원을 달성하는 등 사업 성장의 본궤도에 올라서고 있다.
# 딥러닝 기반 다양한 의료 시스템, 솔루션 개발
파인인사이트는 주력 상품은 화상심도진단보조 시스템 및 원격의료 시스템이다. 화상진단 기술은 딥러닝 기술을 통해 AI를 학습시켜 메디컬 포토에서 화상 부위를 자동로 판독해 환부의 경증/중증 정도를 검증할 수 있다. 화상심도진단보조 시스템을 통해 비전문 의료진에게 적절한 치료를 위한 올바른 판단 근거를 제공한다는 것이 신 대표의 설명이다.
신대표는 "첫 아이가 3살쯤 전기밥솥에 오른손 화상을 입었는데 아이는 울고 응급처치는 어찌해야 할지 몰라 응급실에 갔는데 정말 별거 아니었다. 화상심도 진단보조 시스템은 이 같은 워킹맘의 경험을 통해 화상환자들이 응급처치를 할 수 있도록 해야겠다는 생각으로 개발했다. 우선 위피아스라는 앱을 통해서 화상 전문 의료진의 진단 및 컨설팅을 받을 수 있는 제품을 먼저 출시했다. 다음으로는 인공지능을 통해 화상심도가 예측 가능한 제품을 만들었고 조만간 출시할 예정이다."라고 설명했다.
E-Healthcare Solution은 언제 어디서나 간편하게 개인 맞춤형 건강서비스를 제공하는 지속적인 건강관리 시스템으로 병원 진료 및 검진 정보를 활용한 빅데이터 기반 헬스케어 플랫폼이다. 현재 인도네시아 족자카르타에 2대를 설치했으며 현지인의 건강 데이터를 수집해 인도네시아 족자카르타 시에 제공하고 있다.
차세대 병원정보시스템 LIME은 복잡한 의료정보를 체계적으로 수집하고 효율적으로 관리할 수 있는 솔루션입니다. 특히 데이터 중심으로 구축해 의료정책 및 내부 변화에도 유연한 시스템으로 500병상 미만의 종합병원에 최적화됐다.
# 압도적인 빅데이터와 R&D기술
파인인사이트의 경쟁력은 국내 대표적인 화상 전문 병원 베스티안 의료진과 협업을 통해 압도적인 빅데이터를 기반으로 상품을 개발하고 있다는 것이다. 여기에 전 임직원의 80%가 각 분야 전문개발인력(석박사 20%)으로 구성된 만큼 현장에서 사용하기 편리하고 효율적인 시스템과 일반 유저들의 만족도가 높은 서비스를 개발하고 있다.
파인인사이트는 이 같은 경쟁력은 최근 대외적인 실적으로 연결되고 있다. 파인인사이트는 지난해 2015년 대비 200% 성장한 약20억 원의 매출을 올리며 신규 시스템 개발 및 해외 사업을 할 수 있는 계기를 마련했다. 현재 충청북도에서 지원하는 충북가치창출사업을 통해서 소프트웨어 기반 의료기기 개발을 추진 중에 있으며, 글로벌 IT 업체인 한국 마이크로소프트에서 공동 사업개발 제안이 오는 등 회사의 경쟁력을 인정받고 있다.
해외에서의 러브콜도 잇따르고 있다. 파인인사이트는 2020년 KOICA(한국국제협력단)와 함께 화상상처 상담 앱 위피아스를 기반으로 축적된 화상 빅데이터와 화상전문 베스티안 병원과의 협약을 통해 인도네시아에 인공지능 기반 화상심도진단보조 시스템 및 원격의료 시스템 수출할 예정이다. 인도네시아 외에도 현재 베트남 진출도 준비 중이다.
신 대표는 "인도네시아 족자카르타시가 주관하는 E-healthcare시스템 구축 시범사업에 참가해, 프라타마 시립병원(RS. Pratama)과 곤도쿠스만 보건소(Puskesmas Gondokusman1)에 E-healthcare시스템을 구축하고 데이터 수집을 시작했다. 족자카르타 시는 이번 사업에서 시민의 건강데이터를 수집하여 건강보험정책에 반영할 계획이다."라고 설명했다.
# 해외 시장 진출 확대, 글로벌 원격의료시장 강자 될 것
파인인사이트는 2020년 화상심도진단보조 시스템 및 원격의료 시스템의 성공적인 인도네시아 진출을 발판 삼아 글로벌 원격의료시장 공략에 적극 나선다는 계획이다.
신 대표는 "인도네시아에 이어 화상을 비롯한 피부질환 관심이 높은 호주를 시작으로 시장규모가 크고 협력사가 진출해 있는 중국 시장도 공략할 계획이다."라며 "E-Healthcare 플랫폼 구축을 통한 일반 의료 데이터 수집과 빅데이터 기반 스마트 헬스케어 애플리케이션을 통해 글로벌 진출을 위한 연결고리들을 만들고 인공지능 화상심도장비를 바탕으로 글로벌 원격의료시장 진출에 박차를 가하겠다."고 말했다.

Development of various medical systems based on deep learning, overwhelming big data and R&D technology

Shin Hyun-kyung, who has been running a hospital for more than 20 years in Bestian, is the main character of FineInsight, which was established in 2013.
FineInsight, whose R&D workforce accounts for more than 80 percent of all executives and employees, has been on the main track of business growth since last year, securing major domestic and foreign customers and achieving annual sales of 2 billion won as a result of its efforts to develop diverse systems and platforms in the healthcare sector since its establishment.
The main products of PineSite are the Video Severity Diagnosis Supplementary System and Telemedicine System. By learning AI through Deep Learning technology, video diagnosis technology can automatically read burn areas from medical photos to verify the degree of minor/seriousness of the affected areas. Shin explains that through a video depth diagnosis assistance system, non-professional medical staff are provided with the right grounds for judgment for proper treatment.
Shin said, "The first child suffered right-handed burns in an electric rice cooker when he was about three years old, and he went to the emergency room because he didn't know what to do with crying and first aid, but it was really. The video-psychological diagnostic assistance system was developed with the idea that the experience of working mothers should be used to help burn patients perform first-aid treatment. First of all, the company released a product called WPIAS, which allows medical professionals to diagnose and consult on burns through an app called WPIAS. Next, we have made products with predictable video depth through artificial intelligence and will release them soon," he explained.
E-Healthcare Solution is a big data-based healthcare platform that utilizes hospital care and screening information as a continuous health care system that provides personalized health services anytime, anywhere and easily. It currently has two units installed in Indonesia and collects health data from locals and provides them to the Indonesian.
The next-generation hospital information system LIME is a solution that can systematically collect and efficiently manage complex medical information. In particular, it was optimized for general hospitals with less than 500 beds due to flexible systems despite medical policies and internal changes as it was built based on data.
The competitiveness of "FineInsight" is that it is developing products based on overwhelming big data through collaboration with Bestian medical staff, one of the leading hospitals specializing in burns in Korea. On top of this, 80 percent of all executives and employees are composed of professional development personnel (doctorate, 20 percent), so they are developing a system that is convenient and efficient to use in the field and highly satisfactory to general users.
The competitiveness has recently been linked to external performance. FineInsight posted about 2 billion won in sales last year, up 200 percent from 2015, setting the stage for developing new systems and doing business abroad. Currently, the company is seeking to develop software-based medical devices through the Chungbuk Value Creation Project, which is supported by North Chungcheong Province, and is recognized for the company's competitiveness, with a proposal for joint business development coming from Microsoft Korea, a global IT company.
There have also been a series of love calls from overseas. In 2020, FineInsight will export artificial intelligence-based video-psychological diagnostic assistance systems and telemedicine systems to Indonesia through an agreement with Vestian Hospital, which has been accumulating based on the video injury counseling app WPIAS. In addition to Indonesia, it is currently preparing to enter Vietnam.
"I participated in a pilot project to build an E-healthcare system organized by the Indonesian city of Jokjakarta, and set up an E-healthcare system at the City Hospital of Pratama (RS. Pratama) and the Gulf Health Center and started collecting data," Shin said. The city of Jokjakarta plans to collect health data of citizens from the project and reflect it in health insurance policies," he explained.
FineInsight plans to actively target the global telemedicine market by using its video-simplification assistance system and telemedicine system as a stepping stone in Indonesia in 2020.
"We are planning to target Chinese markets where there is a large market size and partners are making inroads into Chinese markets, starting with Australia, which has high interest in skin diseases such as burns, after Indonesia." said CEO Shin. "We will create links for global advancement through general medical data collection and big data-based smart healthcare applications through the establishment of E-Healthcare platform and speed up our advance into the global telemedicine market based on artificial intelligence imaging equipment."
