정보 보안기업 안랩이 인공지능(AI) 기반 정보보안 스타트업 ‘제이슨’을 인수했다. 안랩이 스타트업을 인수한 것은 처음으로, 인공지능 관련 경쟁력 확대를 위한 결정으로 알려졌다.

안랩은 그동안 정보보안 스타트업의 인수보다는 투자에 적극적으로 나섰다. 지난해 중소벤처기업부 액셀러레이터로 등록하고 차세대 인증분야 스타트업 ‘와이키키소프트’, 클라우드 정보보안 스타트업 ‘스파이스웨어’와 전략적 제휴 및 투자 등에 나선 바 있다.

27일 인수합병(M&A)업계에 따르면 안랩은 지난 22일 제이슨의 지분 60%를 인수하는 주식매매계약(SPA)을 체결했다. 안랩은 인수 대금을 공개하지 않았다. 인수절차는 1월 말 완료될 예정이며, 인수 후에도 제이슨을 독립된 자회사로 운영된다. 김경화 제이슨 대표는 “안랩이 보유한 보안 기술력과 자산에 제이슨의 AI 역량을 합쳐, 보다 다양한 고객에게 제공하기 위해 노력할 것”이라고 말했다.

제이슨은 지난 2017년 4월 설립된 정보보안 스타트업으로, AI 기반 내부통제 및 정보유출방지, IT운영 및 장애예측(AIOps) 시스템 ‘JMachine(제이머신)’을 개발해 금융 및 대기업 고객에게 공급하고 있다.

안랩의 인수는 AI 기반 이상행위 분석 솔루션 사업분야 강화, 제이슨의 AI 기반 이상행위 분석 기술 접목으로 안랩의 솔루션·서비스 고도화, 향후 AI 기반 클라우드 보안 관제 등으로 사업 및 기술 시너지 확대 등을 목적으로 하고 있다.

강석균 안랩 CEO는 “AI를 활용한 보안은 가트너의 2020년 10대 전략 기술 중 하나로 선정될 정도로 그 중요도와 활용도가 어느 때보다도 증가하고 있다”며 “(제이슨) 인수로 현재의 관련 사업분야 강화는 물론, 양사가 보유한 AI 보안 기술과 대량의 위협 데이터를 연계해 고도화되고 있는 각종 보안 위협에 대한 대응역량을 강화해 나갈 계획”이라고 말했다.

Information security company Ahnlab has acquired AI-based information security startup called ‘Jason’. It is the first time that Ahnlab has taken over the startup and is known for its decision to expand its AI-related competitiveness. Ahnlab has been active in investing rather than acquiring information security startups. Last year, he registered as an accelerator for the Ministry of Small and Medium Venture Business and started strategic alliances and investments with WaikikiSoft, a startup in next-generation authentication, and Spiceware, a cloud information security startup.

According to M&A (M&A) industry on the 27th, Ahnlab signed a stock trading contract on the 22nd to acquire 60% of Jason’s shares. Ahnlab did not disclose the acquisition payment. The acquisition process is scheduled to be completed at the end of January, and even after the acquisition, Jason will operate as an independent subsidiary. "We will make efforts to provide a wider variety of customers by combining Jason’s AI capabilities with security technologies and assets held by Ahnlab," said CEO Kim Kyung-hwa.

Jason is an information security startup that was established in April 2017 and has developed AI-based internal control and prevention of information leakage, IT operation and AIOps (AIOps) system called ‘JMachine’ that is supplied to financial and large business customers.

The acquisition of Ahnlab is aimed at strengthening its business area for analyzing AI-based abnormalities, upgrading Ahnlab’s solutions and services by applying Jayson’s AI-based abnormalities analysis technology, and expanding business and technology synergy by controlling AI-based cloud security in the future.

"Security using AI is increasing more than ever, as it is selected as one of Gartner’s top 10 strategic technologies in 2020," Ahnlab CEO Kang Seok-kyun said. "With the acquisition of Jayson, we are planning to strengthen our current business areas, as well as strengthen our capabilities against various advanced security threats by linking large amounts of threat data with AI security technologies."
