비씨카드가 베트남 카드결제 시장 공략에 나선다. 사업 다각화와 글로벌 진출 확대를 통한 경쟁력 강화 효과가 예상된다.
3일 인수합병(M&A)업계에 따르면 비씨카드는 베트남 내 포스(POS) 단말기를 유통하는 와이어카드 베트남(Wirecard Vietnam)사의 지분 100%를 인수, 카드결제 시장에 진출한다. 지분 인수 계약은 지난달 29일 체결 완료됐으며 지분 인수를 위한 대금 정산과 지분 이전은 올 3분기 안에 이뤄질 예정이다.
와이어카드 베트남은 현지 주요 은행과 전자결제 사업자 40여 곳에 결제 단말기를 공급 중이며 시장점유율 1위를 차지하고 있는 업체다.
유통 업무뿐만 아니라 소프트웨어 개발 역량도 보유하고 있다. 공급자가 원하는 맞춤형 포스(POS)의 개발·제공을 통해 베트남 안에서 활동하는 다른 포스(POS) 유통사 대비 높은 만족도를 얻고 있다는 평을 받고 있다.
비씨카드는 와이어카드 인수를 통해 베트남 서비스 경쟁력 제고, 다양한 결제 방식 수용 가능한 통합 단말기 제공, 단말기 원격 업그레이드 통한 비용 절감 등의 효과를 기대하고 있다.
특히 비씨카드가 가진 노하우와 기술 적용을 통해 베트남 내 와이어카드 베트남의 공급처(은행·전자결제 사업자)와 일반 고객들에게 다양하고 편리한 결제 서비스를 제공할 수 있도록 서비스도 고도화할 예정이다.
최원석 비씨카드 사장은 “베트남 현지 사업의 직접 진출과 안정적 사업 확보를 위해 와이어카드 베트남의 지분 인수를 결정했다”며 “해외시장 진출 등 사업 구조 다각화를 통해 다양한 수익을 낼 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

BC Card is targeting Vietnam's card payment market. It is expected that it will strengthen its competitiveness by diversifying its business and expanding its global presence.
According to M&A industry on the 3rd, BC Card is going to enter the card payment market by acquiring 100% of shares of Wirecard Vietnam, which distributes POS terminals in Vietnam. The acquisition contract was signed on the 29th of last month, and the settlement of payments and transfer of shares to acquire the stake will take place within the third quarter of this year.
Wirecard Vietnam is supplying payment terminals to 40 major local banks and electronic payment businesses and is the number one company in the market share.
It also has capabilities to develop software as well as distribution business. It is said that it is gaining higher satisfaction than other POS distributors operating in Vietnam through the development and provision of customized POS (POS) that suppliers want.
BC Card expects to improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese services through the acquisition of Wire Card, provide integrated terminals that can accommodate various payment methods, and reduce costs by remotely upgrading terminals.
In particular, BC Card's know-how and technology will be applied to provide various and convenient payment services to suppliers (banks and electronic payment operators) and ordinary customers in Vietnam.
"We have decided to acquire Wirecard Vietnam's stake in order to directly enter Vietnam and secure stable businesses," said Choi Won-seok, president of BC Card. "We will make efforts to make various profits by diversifying our business structure such as entering overseas markets."
