공간 제한적인 스토리지, 네트워크 통신, 서버, 텔레콤 설계에서는 전력 밀도가 매우 중요하다. 인피니언 테크놀로지스(코리아 대표이사 이승수)는 고집적 IR38164 DC-DC POL 컨버터를 출시했다고 26일 밝혔다.
인피니언 IR38x6x 제품군은 완전한 SVID 호환성 또는 3비트 PVID 유연성을 제공하므로 인텔 시스템의 인텔 CPU 및 칩셋 POL 레일을 쉽게 설계하고 지원하도록 한다. 또 일부 제품은 텔레콤 기지국, 네트워크, 스토리지 SSD 같은 애플리케이션에서 제어, 텔레메트리, 전압 설정을 필요로 하는 POL 레일 용으로 PMBus 기능을 지원한다. 이 POL 제품군은 OptiMOS™ MOSFET의 뛰어난 효율을 활용한다.
동급 최소형으로 SVID를 내장한 IR38164는 기존의 외부 구동 디지털 컨트롤러 솔루션 대비 공간을 50퍼센트까지 절약하고 향상된 전류 모니터링 정확도를 제공한다. IR38164는 5mm x 7mm 구리 클립 패키지로 제공되며 RDS(on), FOM(figure of merit), QRR이 시중에서 가장 낮은 OptiMOS 5를 채택해, 91퍼센트 이상의 코어 레일(0.7V~1.2V) 효율과 97퍼센트 이상의 5Vout 효율을 달성하였다. 또한 IR38164는 열 특성이 뛰어나기 때문에 30A에 이르기까지 고주파수 동작을 할 수 있다. 향상된 패키징과 고성능 MOSFET을 채택함으로써 높은 주변 온도에서 최소한의 에어플로우를 사용해서 고전류 3.3V 및 5V 출력 전압을 제공할 수 있다.
IR38164는 인피니언의 3세대 전압 모드 PWM 엔진을 채택하여 높은 제어 대역폭, 50퍼센트 더 적은 커패시터, 안정적인 1MHz 동작이 가능하다. 진정한 차동 전압 검출, 넓은 마진 범위(margining range), 0.5퍼센트 Vref 정확도를 결합하여 1퍼센트 이상의 Vout 정확도를 제공한다.
IR38x6x 제품은 VCCIO, VMPC, PVNN 레일 같은 인텔 VR13 레일 용으로 프로그래밍 되었다. PMbus 기능을 지원하거나 지원하지 않는 제품과 핀 호환이 가능하다.
[New Technology] Infineon, Intel SVID, and PBus-enabled, high-voltage regulator launch
Power density is critical in space-constrained storage, network communications, server, and telecom designs. Infineon Technologies (Korea CEO Lee Seung-soo) said Wednesday that it has released a stubborn IR38164 DC-DC POL converter.
The Infineon IR38x6x family offers either full SVID compatibility or three-bit PVID flexibility, making it easy to design and support Intel CPU and chipset POL rails in Intel systems. In addition, some products support the PMBus function for POL rails that require control, telemetric and voltage settings in applications such as telecom base stations, networks and storage SSDs. This POL family utilizes the excellent efficiency of OptiMOSTM MOSFET.
Equipped with SVID as a class-leading minimum, IR38164 saves up to 50 percent of space compared to conventional external driven digital controller solutions and provides improved current monitoring accuracy. IR38164 is available in a 5mm x 7mm copper clip package and RDS(on), FOM(f) and QRR have adopted the lowest OptiMOS 5 on the market, achieving over 91% core rail (0.7V to 1.2V) efficiency and more than 97% 5Vout efficiency. The IR38164 also has excellent thermal properties, allowing high-frequency operation up to 30A. By adopting enhanced packaging and high-performance MOSFETs, high current 3.3V and 5V output voltages can be provided using minimal airflow at high ambient temperatures.
IR38164 adopts Infineon's third-generation voltage mode PWM engine, enabling high control bandwidth, 50 percent less capacitors and stable 1 MHz operation. Combine true differential voltage detection, wide margin range and 0.5% Vref accuracy to provide more than 1% Vout accuracy.
IR38x6x products are programmed for Intel VR13 rails such as VCCIO, VMPC and PVNN rail. Pin compatibility with products that support or do not support PMbus functions is possible.
