[편집자주]서울시의 산업진흥 및 중소기업 육성 정책의 효율적인 추진을 위해 설립된 서울산업진흥원(SBA)의 다양한 지원사업들이 관내 중소 스타트업들의 인큐베이팅 역할을 톡톡히 하며 주목받고 있다. 좋은 일자리 창출을 핵심 목표로 창업, 유통, 교육, 콘텐츠, 특허, R&D 등 다양한 서비스를 제공하고 있는 서울산업진흥원의 지원사업들은 중소 스타트업들이 '강소기업'으로 도약할 수 있는 밑거름이 되고 있다는 평가를 받고 있다. 이에 서울산업진흥원(SBA)과 디지털 경제신문 ‘비즈니스리포트’는 SBA의 지원사업 수혜를 통해서 성공한 많은 중소 스타트업들의 성공스토리를 기획특집기사로 연재한다.
전 산업에 걸쳐 많은 기업들이 4차산업혁명시대를 맞으며 겪고 있는 고민이 하나가 있다. 음성인식, 5G, 초연결, 인공지능 등 이른바 4차산업혁명시대의 핫 키워드로 일컬어지는 이 기술들과 자사의 상품, 서비스, 업무방식과 어떻게 연결을 시켜야하는가에 대한 고민이 바로 그것이다. 비용 문제는 차치하더라도 당장 관련 전문 인력들을 구하려고 해도 쉽지 않은 것이 현실이다. 주동원 대표가 지난 2017년 창업한 (주)자이냅스는 인공지능 분야 핵심 인력과 기술력을 바탕으로 이같은 기업들의 고민과 니즈에 대한 솔루션을 제공하는 인공지능 기술 전문기업이다.
# 텍스트 기반 NLP, 비정형빅데이터 분석, 음성합성 분야 인공지능 상품 선보여
자이냅스는 텍스트 기반 NLP, 비정형빅데이터 분석, 음성합성 분야의 인공지능 상품을 주력으로 선보이고 있다. 우선 자체 개발한 추론 기반 자연어 이해 엔진을 탑재한 챗본은 일반적인 규칙 기반 챗봇에 비해 상대적으로 적은 데이터로도 정확한 답변을 제공한다. 빅데이터 분석 기술인 Topic modeling을 적용해 초기 챗봇 설계 시 사람이 직관적으로 서비스를 도출하는 것이 아니라 알고리즘이 분석한 결과를 토대로 설계하므로, 핵심서비스 중심 설계가 가능하다. 현재까지 코이카, 한국로슈, 서울대학교, 서울산업진흥원 등 다양한 기관과 챗봇 프로젝트를 진행했다.
비정형 빅데이터 분석도 자이냅스의 핵심 서비스 상품이다. 비정형 빅데이터에서 가장 중요한 Labeling이 많은 경우 아직도 사람이 일일이 하는 경우가 많아 시간과 비용이 많이 소요되고, 사람에 따른 편차나 오류도 많이 발생하는 것이 일반적이다. 자이냅스는 이같은 문제점을 개선하기 위해 Semi supervised learning 방식의 Auto labeling을 적용하기 때문에 알고리즘이 더 빠르고 정확하게 Labeling을 자동으로 처리한다. 과거 한국수출입은행, KDB산업은행, 미래에셋대우와 뉴스 데이터 기반의 프로젝트를 진행했으며, 현재 산업연구원과 함께 주요 산업의 트렌드를 파악하는 프로젝트를 진행하고 있다. 또한 한국데이터산업진흥원의 데이터바우처 지원사업의 공식 데이터 가공기업으로서 3개 기업의 비정형 빅데이터 분석 프로젝트를 진행 중이다.
엔터테이트먼트 기업에게 적합한 음성합성 상품도 선보이고 있다. 음성의 특징을 추출하는 Mel finter bank 알고리즘과 딥러닝을 활용해, 적은 음성 데이터로도 빠른 시간 안에 자연스러운 음성합성이 가능하며, 하나의 언어만을 합성하더라도 영어와 같은 다른 새로운 언어로 가상음성 합성이 가능한 것이 특징이다. 현재 마마무 등이 소속된 RBW, 샤이타운뮤직 등 K-POP 엔터테인먼트 기업과 함께 가상음성 기반 콘텐츠 플랫폼 개발 중이다.
주 대표는 "자이냅스가 함께 협업하고 있는 컨택센터 기업, 엔터테인먼트 기업을 비롯한 다양한 기업들은 기존의 업무방식과 솔루션에 인공지능 기술을 접목해 새로운 경험을 이끌어내고 비용 등의 문제를 해결하고자 하는 니즈가 많다."라며 "4차 산업혁명 시대를 맞아 변화가 있을 것이라는 점에 있어서는 공감대가 있지만 자체적으로 해결이 어려운 경우가 많다. 자이냅스와 같은 기술기반 스타트업과의 협업이 필요한 상황으로, 인공지능 및 빅데이터 분석 기술을 기반으로 새로운 가치를 창출하기 위해 개발에 중점을 두고 있다."고 설명했다.
# 자체 인공지능 및 빅데이터 기술 개발 역량 갖춰
자이냅스의 경쟁력은 자체 인공지능 및 빅데이터 기술 개발 역량을 갖추고 있다는 점이다. 자체 기술력이 없는 기업은 원래 기술이나 솔루션을 개발한 기업이 국내 사정에 맞춰 수정해주기 전까지는 해결이 불가능하지만, 자이냅스는 자체 기술력을 기반으로 하기 때문에 고객이 원하는 기능을 추가하거나 문제가 발생할 때 바로 대응이 가능하기 때문이다.
주 대표는 "인공지능 회사의 핵심은 자체 자연어처리 엔진과 알고리즘 개발역량 보유 여부인데, 인공지능 회사라고 홍보하는 경우에도 실제로는 자체 기술력이 없이 타 기관에서 개발한 기술을 그대로 사용하기도 하는데, 이것은 인공지능 회사라기 보다는 벤더라고 보는 것이 타당하다"고 지적했다.
자이냅스는 차별화된 경쟁력을 인정받아 짧은 업력에도 불고하고 주목할만한 대내외적인 성과를 이어가고 있다. 자이냅스는 기술력을 대내외적으로 인정받아 중국의 글로벌 기업인 텐센트가 주관하는 Tencent A.I. Accelerator에서 1,500개 지원기업 중 150개만이 참여하는 Final stage에 진출한 바 있으며, 서울시와 특허청에서 주관하는 핀테크 IP 컴피티션에서 4위(장려상)을 수상했다.

# 글로벌 플랫폼 기업으로 성장할 것
자이냅스는 K-POP 아티스트들의 가상음성을 활용한 컨텐츠 플랫폼 출시를 앞두고 마무리 작업에 박차를 가하고 있다. 또한 홍콩 호텔서비스 기업 STPL과의 계약을 통해 내년 초에는 창업 이후 처음으로 첫 수출 실적 성과도 기대하고 있다. 자이냅스는 현재 서비스 중인 인공지능 텍스트, 음성에서 나아가 향후 이미지, 영상까지 사업 영역을 확대한다는 계획이다.
주 대표는 "내년 출시할 가상음성 콘텐츠 플랫폼을 점차 확대해 유튜브나 스포티파이, 애플뮤직과 같은 외국산 플랫폼이 우리나라 최대 글로벌 콘텐츠 자산인 K-POP의 실질적 수혜를 가져가는 현재의 시장을 흔들 수 있는 글로벌 플랫폼으로 성장하고자 한다."고 포부를 밝혔다.
[Hidden Champion] Companies that plant text and voice-compatible AI technology in enterprises 'XINAPSE'
Various support projects by the Seoul Industrial Promotion Agency (SBA), which was established to promote the Seoul city government's policies for promoting industrial development and fostering small and medium-sized enterprises, are drawing keen attention as they serve as incubators for small and medium-sized startups within the government. The Seoul Industrial Promotion Agency's support projects, which offer a variety of services, including startups, distribution, education, content, patents and R&D, with the key aim of creating good jobs, are said to be the foundation for small and medium start-ups to become "strong companies." As a result, SBA (Seoul Industrial Promotion Agency) and digital economic newspaper Business Report will publish success stories of many small and medium start-ups that have succeeded through SBA's support business.
There is one worry that many companies across the industry are experiencing in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. These are the technologies, which are often referred to as hot keywords in the era of the so-called "fourth industrial revolution," such as voice recognition, 5G, hyper-connectedness and artificial intelligence, and how to connect their products, services and work methods. Aside from the cost issue, the reality is that it is not easy to find the professionals involved right away. Founded by CEO Joo Dong-won in 2017, the company specializes in artificial intelligence technology that provides solutions to such companies' concerns and needs based on their core manpower and technical skills in the artificial intelligence field.
XINAPSE is introducing artificial intelligence products in text-based NLP, unstructured Big Data analysis and voice synthesis. First of all, Chatbone, equipped with its own reasoning-based natural language comprehension engine, provides accurate answers with relatively little data compared to normal rule-based Chatbot. Because people do not intuitively derive services during initial chatbot design by applying Topic modeling, it is possible to design core services based on results that are analyzed by algorithms. Until now, it has carried out chatbot projects with various organizations including Koika, Korea Roche, Seoul National University and the Seoul Industrial Promotion Agency.
Unstructured Big Data analytics services are also a key service product for XINAPSE. In the case of the most important labelling in unstructured big data, it is often time-consuming and costly for people to do so, and there are many deviations or errors depending on people. In order to improve this problem, XINAPSE employs Semi supercharged learning method Auto labelling, so the algorithm automatically processes Labeling faster and more accurately. In the past, it has carried out news data-based projects with the Export-Import Bank of Korea, the KDB Industrial Bank of Korea and Mirae Asset Daewoo, and is currently working with the Korea Institute of Industrial Economics and Trade to identify trends in major industries. In addition, as the official data processing company of the data voucher support project by the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency, three companies are working on an unstructured big data analysis project.
It is also introducing voice-synthetic products suitable for entertainment companies. Using the Mel pointer bank algorithm and deep learning that extracts the characteristics of voice, it is possible to have natural voice synthesis in a short time with less voice data, and virtual voice synthesis in other new languages, such as English, even if one language is synthesized. It is currently developing virtual voice-based content platforms with K-pop entertainment companies such as RBW and Shytown Music, which are affiliated with Mamamoo and others.
"Many companies, including contact center companies and entertainment companies, that the company is collaborating with, need to bring new experiences and solve cost and other problems by applying artificial intelligence technology to their existing work methods and solutions," Joo said. "There is consensus that there will be changes in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, but it is often difficult to solve them on its own. With the situation requiring collaboration with technology-based startups like XINAPSE, we are focusing on development to create new values based on artificial intelligence and big data analytics technologies," he explained.
XINAPSE's competitiveness is that it has its own capabilities to develop artificial intelligence and big data technologies. Although companies that do not have their own technology cannot solve this problem until a company that has developed its own technology or solutions corrects it according to domestic situation, XINAPSE is based on its own technical skills, so it is possible to add functions that customers want or respond immediately when problems arise.
"The key point of an artificial intelligence company is whether it has its own natural language processing engine and ability to develop algorithms, and even if it is promoted as an artificial intelligence company, it actually uses technologies developed by other agencies without its own technology, which makes sense to be viewed as a vendor rather than an artificial intelligence company," said Joo.
In recognition of its differentiated competitiveness, XINAPSE has continued its remarkable internal and external performance despite its short performance. In recognition of its technological prowess both internally and externally, XINAPSE entered the Final Stage, where only 150 out of 1,500 support companies are participating, at Tencent A.I. Accelerator, a Chinese global company, won the fourth prize in the FinTech IP Compression hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
In addition, ▲Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency selected a data voucher processing company and ▲Hong Kong RISE Conference alfa track participating companies ▲Hong Kong STPL signed a business agreement and signed an agreement with ▲POP Entertainment during a contract with Hong Kong STPL.
XINAPSE is speeding up the finishing process ahead of the release of a content platform that utilizes virtual voice from K-pop artists. It also expects the first export performance since its inception early next year through a contract with Hong Kong hotel service firm STPL. Zainap plans to expand its business scope from artificial intelligence text and voice currently in service to image and video in the future.
Joo said, "We hope to gradually expand the virtual voice content platform to be launched next year to grow into a global platform that can shake the current market where foreign-made platforms such as YouTube, Sportpi and Apple Music take the real benefits of K-pop, Korea's largest global content asset.``I have expressed my ambition.
