일본 전자업체 파나소닉이 미국의 공급망 관리 소프트웨어 개발업체 블루욘더의 인수를 추진하고 있다. 블루욘더는 인공지능(AI)을 활용해 제품의 수요와 납기를 예측하고 공급망 검토를 통해 수익성을 개선해주는 디지털 솔루션 제공 업체다.

8일 인수합병(M&A)업계에 따르면 니혼게이자이 신문은 다수 소식통들을 인용, 파나소닉과 블루욘더 투자자간에 협상을 진행하고 있다고 보도했다. 파나소닉은 블루욘더 대주주 중 하나다. 파나소닉의 블루욘더 인수금액은 7000억엔(7조3000억원)에 달할 것으로 알려졌다. 합병이 성사되면 2011년 이후 파나소닉의 최대 규모 M&A다. 파나소닉은 2011년 8000억엔을 들여 자회사인 산요 전기와 파나소닉 일렉트릭 웍스 잔여 지분을 완전히 인수한 바 있다.

파나소닉은 블루욘더 인수를 바탕으로 소프트웨어와 융합을 통한 하드웨어 제품의 부가가치 향상을 기대하고 있는 것으로 전해진다. 파나소닉은 현재 매장용 감시카메라나 물류 시설용 바코드 판독기 시장에서 높은 점유율을 나타내고 있다. 제품에 블루욘더의 소프트웨어를 결합하면 재고 관리 서비스에서 정밀도를 높일 수 있다.

글로벌 제조업시장은 최근 소프트웨어를 활용해 하드웨어 제품 강화에 나서고 있다. 신문은 하드웨어 중심 기업들이 디지털화하면서 관련 소프트웨어에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있고, 독일의 지멘스도 이 같은 방식으로 공장 제어 장비의 기능을 강화해 수익성을 높이고 있다.

Japanese electronics maker Panasonic is seeking to acquire U.S. supply chain management software developer Blue Yonder. BlueYonder is a digital solution provider that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to predict demand and delivery times of products and improves profitability through supply chain review.

According to the M&A industry on the 8th, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported that negotiations are underway between Panasonic and Bluejonder investors, citing a number of sources. Panasonic is one of the largest shareholders of Bluejonder. Panasonic's acquisition of Blue Yonder is expected to reach 700 billion yen (7.3 trillion won). If the merger is completed, it will be Panasonic's largest M&A since 2011. Panasonic spent 800 billion yen in 2011 to completely acquire the remaining shares of its subsidiaries Sanyo Electric and Panasonic Electric Works.

Panasonic is expected to improve the value-added of hardware products through convergence with software based on the acquisition of Blue Yonder. Panasonic currently has a high market share in markets for surveillance cameras for stores and barcode readers for logistics facilities. Combining Bluejonder's software into a product can increase precision in inventory management services.

Global manufacturing markets are currently using software to strengthen their hardware products. Newspapers are increasing demand for related software as hardware-oriented companies are digitized, and Siemens in Germany is also increasing profitability by strengthening the function of factory control equipment in this way.
