올림푸스 본사가 주식 이스라엘 업체 '메디-테이트' 인수에 나선다.
16일 M&A업계에 따르면 올림푸스한국은 지난 12일 올림푸스 본사가 콜옵션을 통해 인수를 추진하고 있다고 밝혔다. 메디-테스트는 비뇨기질환 치료기기 회사다. 올림푸스 본사는 사업 포트폴리오 강화 차원에서 인수를 결정한 것으로 알려졌다.
올림푸스는 지난 2018년 11월 메디-테이트에 처음 투자를 시작했으며 제품 유통권 및 추후 회사주식 100%를 인수하는 권리를 획득했다. 메디-테이트는 양성전립선비대증 관련 최소침습 치료솔루션을 연구개발·생산·판매하는 의료기기 업체다. 올림푸스는 2018년 11월 메디-테이트에 처음 투자를 시작해 제품 유통권 및 추후 회사 주식 100%를 인수하는 권리를 획득한 바 있다.
올림푸스는 지난 2년간 대표제품인 아이틴드의 판매 실적과 임상적 가치를 검토했으며 향후 양성 전립선 비대증 치료 시장에서 입지를 강화하고 최소침습 치료 기술 포트폴리오를 확대하기 위해 이번 인수를 최종 결정했다고 밝혔다.
아이틴드는 하부요로증상을 완화시키기 위해 일시적으로 삽입되는 니티놀 재질의 의료기기다. 유럽통합규격인증(CE)과 미국 FDA 승인을 받았으며, 현재 국내에서도 허가 절차를 진행 중이다.
나초아비아 올림푸스 최고운영책임자는 “올림푸스는 전립선 비대증의 대표적인 치료법인 경요도 전립선 절제술(TURP)용 치료기기 시장을 선도하고 있다”며 “메디-테이트에 대한 투자를 통해 비뇨의학과 사업 확대를 성공적으로 추진할 수 있었고 사회적 비용 절감, 환자의 삶의 질 및 안전성 향상에도 더욱 기여할 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
한펀 올림푸스는 글로벌 의료기업으로 도약을 위해 2019년부터 치료솔루션사업의 확대를 추진하고 있다. 지난 1월에는 기관지 내시경 및 호흡기 질환 진단·치료분야 기업 ‘베란메디컬테크놀로지스(Veran Medical Technologies, Inc.)’사를 인수해, 호흡기과 제품 포트폴리오를 확대한 바 있다.

Hanpun Olympus is a global medical company and is pushing to expand its treatment solution business from 2019. In January, it acquired Veran Medical Technologies, Inc., a company in bronchoscopy and respiratory disease diagnosis and treatment, expanding its portfolio of respiratory and product.
